Xpeng led Pre-C funding for top EV LIDAR solution supplier ZVISION

to breakthrough in the localization and technological innovation of next pure solid-state LIDAR.

On Jan 10, Automotive Grade MEMS(Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) LIDAR solution supplier ZVISION officially announced its completion of billions RMB in Pre-C round financing which is led by Xpeng and followed by SAIC Motor’s SHANGQI Capital, co-fund of Dongfeng Motor and Bank of communications, as well as support from its current shareholder Intel Capital.

ZVISION was founded in Beijing in Nov 2017, Founder and CEO Dr. Tuo Shi is an expert in integrated optoelectronic chips, with more than ten years of experience in his area of expertise. Dr Shih and his team provide international leading all-solid-state LIDAR solutions, high-performance, small integrated and mass-produced automotive-grade all-solid-state LIDAR products, empowering autonomous vehicle, robots and other artificial intelligence to have reliable and stable, wide-view, long-range and high-quality 3D depth vision capability.

After half a year, ZVISION has been endorsed by several industrial investors, signifying that their products have gradually started to gain mainstream endorsement and move towards mass production.

Xpeng leads Tesla in autonomous driving

Tesla’s Autopilot equipped on Model3 & Model Y is only based on imaging technologies which relies on the image captured by onboard cameras to perform calculations. Xpeng has already began employing mmWave radar in its XPILOT 3.0 system. For Xpeng, Automotive Grade MEMS(Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) LIDAR can be mass produced, since the length of wave is shorter the the frequency of waves can be denser. The accuracy of sensitivity will be improved especially in bad weather, making the gap between Xpeng and Tesla much greater.
